After this weeks extensive testing, we now have a completely different report. The doctors have now decided Mary Ann needs to start the radiation treatments. Those daily treatments will begin on September 5th and last six weeks. During that six week period she will have two chemotherapy treatments along with her radiation instead of the weekly chemo she has been receiving. The doctors have told her parents the radiation will make her mouth extremely sore. Besides the discomfort of the treatments, she and another family member will be required to stay in Bloomington during the week and only travel home on the weekends.

This beautifully illustrated children’s book was inspired by a true event. Little Mary Ann, a seven year old Amish girl from Indiana, had just been diagnosed with one of the most aggressive forms of cancer known. As she lay awaiting the first of many chemotherapy treatments at Riley Children’s Hospital, in walked a complete stranger bearing a cuddly bundle of fur named “Faith.” Faith arrived hoping to become Mary Ann’s “bestest” friend and traveling companion for her long journey ahead. What was originally designed to be just a story for Mary Ann has been transformed into “Mary Ann’s Book - My ‘Bestest’ Day.” – A STORY OF FAITH
Described by Tate Publishing as “delightfully innovative.”
All net proceeds from the sale of this wonderful children’s book will be donated to Mary Ann’s family to relieve medical costs for her cancer treatment. Please help by purchasing this book today!
- $24.00
A Story of Faith now includes both written and audio forms. Libby Thomas delivered a beautiful CD version of the book including an authentic recording of Amish children singing Jesus Loves Me in their native language, “Pennsylvania Dutch.” New Price $24.00

Mary Ann’s weekly chemotherapy treatments began on June 6th, 2006. At that time she was scheduled for 42 to 48 treatments, radiation and eventually surgery to remove the growth on her
cheek. She has completed twelve treatments and the growth is now just a fraction of what it once was. Her response has been so positive that the doctors are now considering the surgery first and
hopefully not need the radiationat all. Although the chemo makes her a little sick, she is up and playing with her brothers. Mom said it is good to see her come in dirty again.

Mary Ann is responding to the chemotherapy exceptionally well. It appears as if they may not do
radiation at this time. They may go ahead with the surgery first.
